62. Another O'Neill Checks In!

    I had a call yesterday from John O'Neill of Florida. John is 88 years old and was born in Carlow. He came to the States in the late 1940's and has lived here ever since.
    John, as near as I can understand it, is descended from William O'Neill, the brother of Hugh, our immigrant ancestor. As you can see from the Bible page below, William is listed as the last child of John and Esther. His birth date on the page seems to be 1770, which is out of birth sequence, and other researchers say it should be 1778.
    John sent some family photos and I will try to get them posted soon.

The Naval Historical Center had the below entry for William.

O'Neill, William J.
Acting Third Assistant Engineer, 11 October, 1864. Honorably discharged 18 September, 1865.

I sent this information to the National Archives--to no avail.
