Hi Ron,
Just
back from walking parts of "camino" from Porto to Santiago de
Compostela, mixed weather, and met a great variety of people, including a
Lutheran minister from Pittsburgh.
Working
much slower at family history recently, was given a Christmas present of a
subscription to My Heritage, mixed feelings about it, a lot of stuff it is
giving me is what I put in myself in Geni.
Anyhow,
this summer I intend to have a look around the Fenagh/Garryhill area, and maybe
talk to church wardens to try to identify John and Esther's gravestone.
Just
thought I would mention the proximity of other counties when doing research,
all within approximately 20 miles, (Carlow is the second smallest county in
Ireland) Laois, Kilkenny,Wexford, Wicklow and Kildare.
John
and Esther's grandson James, ( my GG Grandfather ), farmed near Athy, County
Kildare, and his son John had a farm, Tomgar House, Ballycanew, County Wexford,
my father’s birthplace.
Also,
the river Barrow as a means of transport/communication prior to railways before
the mid-1800s.
Will
