Hi
Ron,
Hope you are keeping well. I am
sending you an extract from a local newspaper from around 1876.
William O'Neill, b1832, eldest son of
James, nephew to your Hugh, was an agricultural engineer, who had a foundry in
Athy. He won many prizes for his agricultural implements and exhibited at the
annual Royal Dublin Society show. He married Francis Budds, but had no children
(my G-G-uncle thinks). Have not found a death notice for him yet; I suspect he
may have traveled to Australia or America to visit or stay with relatives. I
have also found strong Quaker connections--I will send a photo of Quaker
records.
Would he be a second cousin of your
William? William is a recurring name in the various O'Neill families on this
side of the pond.
All the best, Dermott
[Only
Quaker reference I’ve seen for the O’Neills.]
